Types of application of HDPE Geomembrane
RESERVOIRS & PONDS
A major use of polyethylene geomembrane is in the area of liquid containment. The geomembrane acts as a pond liner to prevent contaminants from entering groundwater sources or streams. In additional, the geomembrane prevents seepage loss thereby conserving millions of gallons of water annually in portable water applications. Typical applications include agricultural ponds, gold courses, resorts and other recreational applications.
IRRIGATION CANALS
Polyethylene geomembrane provides an excellent alternative to or supplements concrete and compacted earth in canal linings to reduce the substantial reported by government agencies. The geomembrane offers an expedient method to repair existing deteriorated concrete linings.
REINFORCED CONCRETE TANK
Polyethylene geomembrane’s low permeability, high chemical resistance, and flexible barrier makes it well-suited to be used on concrete ringwalls to preserve and protect tank walls against corrosion. The lining material can be placed directly on the ground to effectively contain any spillage.
LANDFILL
A critical element in the proper functioning of a landfill containment system is a liner(s). The use of geomembranes on the bottom and sides of a landfill as an integrated leachate collection system and a leak detection system has been considered necessary for many years. Polyethylene geomembrane, resistant to most wastes, is used as an impermeable flexible barrier to prevent interaction of landfill moisture with contaminated wastes to form leachate which could have unwanted variable characteristics. Polyethylene geomembranes are used in hazardous and non-hazardous landfills.
AQUACULTURE
Installing a HDPE geomembrane plastic pond lining system will ensure easier pond maintenance and reduction in operation costs by reducing sludge, waste, and sediment contamination at the bottom of the pond; ultimately leading to better farming performance and profitable crop harvests.
